After having read both books and being confronted with even more statements about the books being “problematic”, I decided to give my own opinion about it. I was upset, because I loved the book and the criticism didn’t make sense. ![]() I was confronted with allegations that the novel is racist and ableist that it appropriates marginalised cultures and people suffering from chronic pain. Afterwards, I read some reviews – and I was shocked. I loved it, and finished the book in a few days. A rich and diverse fantasy world, strong characters, several bad-ass female characters, and a complex story. I recently purchased Veronica Roth’s new(ish) book, Carve the Mark, and instantly fell in love with it. ![]()
